Die hohe morphologische Auflösung von T2w-Sequenzen ist im Vergleich zu anderen Bildgebungsmodalitäten unübertroffen und ermöglicht neben Detektion und Lokalisation des Prostatakarzinoms auch die Beurteilung eines kapselüberschreitenden Wachstums.
